A visit from Anne

Today my 2D animation class and I were visited by Anne Denman from the animation industry. Her goal, by 2017, is to bring an animation festival to Kelowna called the Okanogan International Animation Festival.

There were many interesting points that Anne brought up about during her presentation involving how to get into the animation industry. One thing was to know when to strike. Humorously, but also seriously, she mentioned that it might not be a good idea to contact someone in the industry on a Monday morning. Another helpful tip she mentioned was to keep your resume clean, basically showing your best work. Additionally, she said to make your portfolio what recruiters want to see.

I'm glad Anne was able to enlighten us on these important approaches (and many more) for getting into the animation industry, and I believe that knowing some of these tips definitely increase peoples' chances in getting into the industry. Thanks Anne!
